Default Help ID this cam

I was told this was an Andrews cam when I bought the bike. I need to know what it is so I can move forward with some performance work. I always thought Andrews cams were plainly stamped on the inside of the shaft, but this one is not. It was in a 96 FXD along with Crane ignition module, screaming eagle exhaust, re-jetted CV carb, and some type of aftermarket intake set up (don't really know what).

It has a number 7 stamped on a raised part of the shaft next to the gear, a Stamped 66 or maybe 99 on the inside of the lobe closest to the gear, and hand etched "43-99-CR" and "FP3102" or "FB3102" on two of the outer lobes facing out.

What do I have?

Never heard of it. In my database of cams, the number 3102 is for a Twin Cam motor made by Competition Cams.

A photo of all marks might help.

Trying to figure out why the photos are not showing up. They do when I hit Edit or Preview.

OK, they eventually came thru.

It's a Crane Fireball 310-2 cam, sometimes referred to as a 310 2

Thank YOU chopper man! Makes sense because it also has a Crane Fireball ignition. I think the adjustable push rods are Crane as well.

Anyone know anything about this cam compared to a EV27 or a Feuling Reaper 543?

Really depends on your predominant riding characteristics. The FB is a great cam, kicks in nice and low, around 1500. The EV around 2500 and around 2200 for the Reaper. I ran the FB in a couple of my previous bikes, loved it.

Excellent! Very helpful, thank you fellas. As mostly a cruiser I don't see the need to ditch it for the Feuling cam that is suggested in the package I am looking at. I'll use the saved $300 for tires.

Most folks don't know that S&S Cycle purchased Crane cams motorcycle division. I always assumed that they mainly did it to remove them from competition, and to acquire some grinding equipment, as well as the rights to the designs, masters, etc.

August 2009, Crane Cams Reopens Under Ownership of S&S Cycle
