Default Removing Batwing?

I'm thinking of removing fairing for maintenance this winter. So, how big a job is this? Is it a big hassle, or just time consuming?
I figure I'll have plenty of time, once the rainy season starts.
I've got a couple of gauges to replace or repair, but they're not critical. And the trip odometer quit working.

OK, this is for a later model batwing but it should be close to the same (I hope). Give me a shout if it helped you.

It comes off pretty easy. Remove windshield and headlight assembly. Remove the passing lamp bracket and place on fender. Cover fender with something first. There will be two studs inside the fairing on each side. You reach them through the headlight opening. Remove the four nuts and pull the fairing straight off.

Thanks, Terry, and, wjl24, I'll save these post to use when I start. Looks to be not too bad of a job.
It's amazing how much help and info is available here!

I was afraid of that. In mine you don't have to remove the headlight.

If you don't have the manual, take pictures of the the wiring connector positions They need to be in the right place to get the front back on correctly. I picked my HD manual on ebay for $12 - it's well worth it.
