Default 1990 FLHTC rear master cylinder

I have replaced the rear brake light switch on my bike but I cannot locate the master cylinder. Can someone tell me where they hid the darn thing. Thanks

Team Flash,

Rear brake master cyclinder is located on the right side bottom frame rail, between motor and tranny. Can't miss it.

The reservoir for the fluid is behind door no 1 ! seriously it is behind the left side cover. right above the cb fuses and solid state elect block.

I have a 1990 FLHTC with a rear brake problem. When the bike is hot, and only then, I'm feeling a brake drag and what feels like a hard brake pedal. Initially I thought it might be the caliper hanging up by a cocked piston or something of that order, but that wouldn't seem to jibe with the "only when it's hot" part. My thinking is now the master cylinder at the foot pedal in that it catches engine heat and possibly something's going on there. This is all original equipment, and other than rear pads, no maintenance has ever been needed. I'm not one to just start changing parts till I get it right, so I'm wondering if anyone here has had a similar situation or has heard of one.

Make sure the pedal is adjusted correctly. If it isn't, it can interfere with the fluid return.

My 94 was doing the same and it turned out to be the caliper and old parts on the rest of the system. The piston was cocking as you mentioned plus my lines were in very bad shape.

I had my guy replace it all but the resevoir and now I'm happier. New lines, caliper, even switch.

I am a preventive maintenance kind of guy plus I'm keeping the bike. I love my carb on my 1994 FLHTCU. EVO all the way :-)

Also make sure no one put DoT 3, 4 or 5.1 fluid in there. You never know about DPO's.

Rebuild the caliper, master cylinder, flush the reservoir and install a new brake line. Fixed. I'm saying the brake line lining is swelling up and keeping the brake fluid from returning to the reservoir. Happens when the brake lines get old. I put a braided line on mine. Should last the rest of my life. All parts available from your local HD parts counter or Dennis Kirk.
