Default Wiring newer controls

Anybody wire up a set of new controls on a older style bike like a 94 Road King. Got a set of pre wired bars with new controls. The new controls are wired with 7 wires on the left and 8 on the right, the old ones had 6 wires on both sides. whats up with that

It depends on what the new bars and controls are off of for example if the controls are off of an FLH it might have the lock out on the clutch lever so the clutch has to be pulled to start. I've used new type of controls on older bikes and vise versa just get a wiring diagram for your bike and the one your new controls are from and marry them up. There might be differences in how the switches use the grounding system on either set. It's not a big problem if you have the diagrams and take your time.
