Need some help, PLEASE! Hand controls
I put a set of ape hangers on my 2015 SGS. A friend of mine asked me to put a set on his. He has a 2016 CVO SG. I got everything back together, np. When I go to check it out, the thing will not crank. The radio comes on, but the volume control or any of the thumb controls will not work. The switches all function.
I checked connectivity through all wires and everything checks out. Is there some kind of receiving unit that might not be getting signal from the hand controls?
Needless to say, I'm freaking out! It's time to ride and I don't want to pay a dealership to finish off a simple job. Where did I go wrong?

I just did new bars on my '16 bagger a short time ago...
Those canbus wire/switches are pretty simple compared to pre-canbus switches/wires..
If it won't start and thumb controls won't work....
1) If I remember correctly... the kill switch is the smaller connector on the right handlebar switch-pak. Check and make sure both ends are fully connected.....
2) The thumb controls are connected to the upper switch-pak via that metal ribbon strip. I have heard of people damaging that ribbon when messing with the switch-pak. Inspect it to see that it hasn't been compromised..
Other than that, make sure your wire extensions are not damaged at the connectors and that all connectors are completely plugged in (until they click).
I hate electrical troubleshooting.... good luck tracking it down...

Just to clarify.
You say the bike doesn't crank, but the buttons function.
So is it just the radio function buttons not working and the engine doesn't crank when hitting the start button....or do none of the buttons, indicators etc operate properly when pressed?
When you turn the ignition to the On position, does the headlight come on, speedo lights up etc?
Does the speedo display any trouble codes? Possibly the first thing to check.
Have you checked the fuses under the left side panel?
Make sure the ignition switch if removed was put back in the correct position.
Check the switch gear/clutch support and brake m/c housings haven't caught the wiring.
The can bus connectors are pretty delicate and sensitive to poor connection. Make sure none of the terminals have backed out of the block connectors. Also that the white/ grey single redundancy wire from the right hand switch gear is connected.
If you removed the terminals from the connectors to pull through the bars, the correct location should be
terminal 1 red/orange
terminal 2 black/green
terminal 3 white/red
terminal 4 white/black
There is an option to enter the radio service menu if you have just radio issues to check for specific radio dtcs.
