Default EPA and Engine upgrades

Will all the upgrades I'm doing, (full flow exhaust and air cleaner, re-jetted carb, performance cam, etc) be affected if the EPA requires the use of factory exhaust? All this stuff was added to get the bike to run correctly, will it ALL have to be removed or will the bike still run effectively the way it is? Are there any goodafter marketmufflers out there? I mean actual mufflers not baffled pipes. All the stuff I've seen are baffled pipes. We're told to stay away from power robbing drag pipes yet isn't that what most of us use? My V&H Longshots are nothing more than straight pipes with baffles. So what's the difference other than price? Drag pipes $125.00, V&H Longshots $400.00. Back when I was bitten by the HD bug I was around mostly Shovelheads & Ironheads and I don't care what anyone says, there is nothing like waking up to a properly tuned Shovel or Ironhead mated to a pair of old Pauchgo drag pipes!

Default RE: EPA and Engine upgrades

The EPA has required the use of stock exhaust for many years now. That's why all aftermarket exhaust will say "for off road use" somewhere on the box/add. When we start electin members of the EPA and voting on thier rules then I will follow and not until.
