Default 98 Ultra

Hi everyone, just bought a 98 Ultra,so I'm new to the bagger world and the EVO, and in need of some help. Bike is bone stock w/ 28k miles on it, motor has never been touched. Anything I need to do ?? Been told cam bearing upgrade would be good, other than that ???1st thing I have to do is exhaust, gonna do Rinehart, but curious... is True Dualthe answer for the EVO'sas it is with TC88, all the searchs I did mainly refer to TC88. I was also planning on A/C and some type of fuel management add on. (bike is FI )I did all these on my 05 Fatboy and that worked pretty good, just trying to figure out what direction to go with this bike. Thanks

Being a used bike......

My practice is to go through the bike....inspecting everything to make it roadworthy and safe. All fluids get changed no matter what they look like.

Then, I ride the bike and get use to it. After I've had it for awhile, then I might possibly upgrade.

Maintenance/Inspection first......Upgrade comes second.

The 1998 Electra Glide was and still is a good bike. The parts are becoming more difficult to find through Harley, so the aftermarket is viable. The EFI system is of the older magnetti marreli, this system does work.

Dealers know less and less about the EVO.

Std stuff first - check the battery, replace all the old relays, clean all the electrical connections , make sure all the grounds are clean and tight, then replace all the fluids (engine, primary, tranny, forks, Brakes) thenadjust the clutch, inspect/replace / repair the brakes pads, tires, cables, repack the wheel bearings and then ride it and make sure it is all working right for a couple of weeks. Once that is done and your happy with it...

Definitly replace the INA cam bearing. Then searchthe web for some companiesthat offer a complete package for the FI EVO - meaning cam, pipes and Fuel Managment and get it dialed in with some dyno runs. At that point you should have a reliable EVO with a decent performance boost.

Thanks for the response guys, I definetly plan on going through everything this winter, fluids, connections etc... I really didn't think about the relays, I guess that is not such a bad idea though. A friend of mine has his own bike shop andworks on alot of Harleys, He recommended a Rev Tech DFO for the fuel adjustment, I plan on doing Exhaust, Air and possibly some cam work, anyone familiar with the DFO ?? Any opinions ?? Thanks Again
