Default Solid Tappet Conversion for Evo's

I was looking through a web site and found a solid tappet conversion for Evo motors, why would you want to ? Is there anything to be gained ? Is this a silly question ?
Always willing to learn.

Solid lifters were never really recommended for evos. I believe the reason is because of the expansion of the aluminum cylinders you ended up with too much lash when warmed up, also because the evo lifters were actually pretty good. S&S made travel limiters which you could install in the lifters which kind of made them act like a solid without the noise. Most people includng myself ran solids on shovels, because the lifters were so bad.

I agree with bigtone. The hydraulic lifters available today are outstanding.

The last thing your question is, is silly. Asking questions is a heck of a lot cheaper than spending money on stuff that winds up not working for you. Of course, ya gotta keep yer B.S. filter operating when you listen to the answers ya get.
