Default Evo Starting issues

This is on a 1999 Heritage. When I start the bike it usually takes one or two cranks for it to fire.......but sometimes 5 or 6.......when it does fire it starts slowly and then builds up to full idle. Thats the problem, it doesnt matter if the bike is cold or has been ridden all day it still seems to start the same. It doesnt just hit and go to full idle.....even when I choke it when it is cold. I have checked the timing and even replaced the cam position sensor because it had melted and run down into the nose cone. Ohmed out the coil, which checked out fine, also check spark between plugs and wires, which are new. Checked battery, coil and voltage regulator connections. Carb jetting is a 45 slow and a 190 main, also checked air/fuel mixture. Help........suggestions.........

Did you check the condition of the hose to the VOES switch from the carb?

As far as the plugs and wires go.............they are both HD Screaming Eagle and I did check the gap on the plugs. The ones that I replaced looked to be stock and the bike did the same thing......Tonight I checked the VOES out.................hoses looked good and it seemed to be functioning correctly..............anybody think it could be the carb? I bought the bike used......other than knowing what size the jets are, who knows what type of jet kit is in there.........maybe a good cleaning with fresh seals and a new jet kit???????????? What about bad compression or a leaky valve seal.........could this be causing my problem?????? Just some more thoughts[sm=feedback.gif]

Lets try this Pull the carb out of the manifold In front of the float toward the manifold there is a idle mixture screw(you can't see it It is covered with a welsh plug unless it has already been drilled out) If not take a 1/8 drill bit center punch the welsh plug and very carefully drill a hole about 1/16 in you'll pop thru put a micro screwdriver into the hole and pop it out You will see a very small screw head back that screw out 1 turn (CCW) fill the hole with clear silicon so the screw doesn't fall out I did a bunch of these
