I know this is the evo section but I ride an evo and I need advice. Me and 3 mates are looking at coming over to the US for Sturgis 2010. We want to fly into Chicago as our starting point and end up in LA to fly back to Australia. I've emailed Chicage HD about the cost to hire 3 touring bikes but I really don't want to take out another mortgage - it's ridiculously expensive (and they want $600 - $800 to get them back from LA per bike!!!!!!!! WTF). Anyway, anybody got any other suggestions for bike hire? We'll need them for 3 weeks.
Have you checked to see what it would cost to just ship your bikes here . It might be cheaper. We have a friend who lives here, that is from Australia and he was checking on bike rentals for friends of his that was suppose to come this year to Strugis from Australia.Very expensvie!A few years back we had some other friends come from England and bought bikes and shipped them home and sold them and ended up with enough money to pay for their trip and the bikes and the shipping. good luck to you!
With the current value of the dollar I would just look at buying a used evo in Chicago and sell it when you get to LA. You can pick up some sweet rides for under $8,000.
