Default EVO Ignition

Are the aftermarket / high output ignitionmodules and coils of any advantage besides higher rev limits ? I have a 98 Ultra Fuel injected with a Andrews EV27, SE slipons, SE air cleaner and Harley download. I realize I won't have any real power gains without doing some head work and other engine work, but am more interested in easier starts and smoother running, I also understand that the FI EVO is not the greatest system in the world, but its what I have ,so I just want to get it to run as good as reasonably possible. Biggest issue is cold starts , sometimes she hits right off, other times you have to hit the throttle, seems like its loaded up, once running it idles ok. when its warm it runs pretty good, but the throttle response is real lazy compared to my twin cam, and maybe thats just the nature of this FI system. What are your opinions on the different brands...SE, Crane, Dyna etc. Thanks

Murf, do you have any kind of fuel management system? Like Power Commander?
BTW, forget about coils or modules.

Murf, with your mods the Harley download is insufficient. My '98 has a Power Commander PC IIIUSB that allows for adjustment of the fuel and ignition throughout the RPM range. All the things you describe can be dealt with by one of these. For best results the bike should be dyno'd. Some people use Jamie at Fuelmoto. He can install a map before shipment, although I prefer dyno tuning. I'm not sure why someone did not suggest this when you did your mods. I have the Stage II kit (cam, larger injectors, SE A/C), SE heads and a Thunderheader, and can outrun any stock Twinkie 88". You will think you have a new bike when you do this. The MM FI does have its limits, but that is not your problem.

This is for a Twinkie, not EVO. His problem is not his EFI, it is that there is nothing telling his computer about the mods.
