I installed a rear wheel on my 96 FLSTF Fatboy which had 30,000 on old bearing. New races, bearings and axel. Had HD set end play.
When i torque castle nut to 60 lbs. the castle nut goes beyond the cotter pin whole. Can i add a washer to bring cstle nut out with out changing end play? Also i do not rember the castle nut going that far on before the new bearings.
Thanks for any help EZD
There is already a stock \\;washer I will add another one. I can not figure out what changed to make castle nut thread on further than cotter pin whole. It seems as if i lost a spacer but everything is there?
I added a washer exact same as stock. I torqued to 60 lbs and turned the castle nut a very little to line up the whole. It rolled fine on the stand in neutral and i rode it only 3 miles but it seems fine. Any other concerns i shhould have? Thanks EZD
Somethings not right, the width of the wheel spigot doesn't seem right. If you add a washer to bolster the width you need to ensure that the wheel alignment (offset) is not changed. \\;
Wheel spigot? I did check wheel alignment and its dead on with in a 32". I agree somthing does not seem right? There is no sign of any problem except the above mentioned castle nut. any other suggestions would be apreciated. Has anyone ever had this happen or heard of this happening? Thanks EZD
