Morning all,
Allow me to set the stage: I had little money (but more then enough) and an itch for a Bagger. The problem: Baggers cost more then "little money" for some thing desent. The soultion: Buy a older HD Ultra.
A 93 with over 100k on it with a stage II, fresh rebuild (less then 2k), new tires, new stereo and a TON of flat black paint. Runs good, rides a little rough being slamed 1 in front and 1.5 in back but more then liveable...
But, this was Tracy's bike (guy who sold it to me..thanx again for a great deal) and I want to add a few touches to make it mine. And I am sure that all of you know, it B tough to find some of the visual upgrades you want on an EVO as well as some more substantial parts.
HD just dont retro some of the new parts (like the #1 with the willie scull...tough as hell!!). And some of the parts that I see from other venders just seems cheap. But, if it catches my fancey, I might be willing to pick it up.
So, looking for sources for HD parts for the EVO bikes. I have found: some direct from HD, Dennis Kirk, JP Cycles, MOTOSPORT but all are just resellers and often have cross over parts.
Any sources I have missed or custom companies I havn't (yet) found on the web or off of it?.
Try Jireh, Eastern Performance and Phat Performance. Jireh has a free catalog, their web site is a little tough to negotiate but their prices always beat everyone else. The other two are web only.
Don't be afraid of aftermarket parts. They are usually better than Harley's, at least the name brand companies are. I agree about the Jireh site. They have low prices.
I looked at some of the aftermarket stuffs at the 105 rally. Lot of other companies out there have nice stuff. Its just with the style of my bike (old school/flat black) I really wanted to go with the "dark custom" line of covers (the sinster looking numba 1 with the skull). Having an EVO, it looks that I will be unable to do that short of some machining/welding....if I gotta!
Will spend some time looking at the other companies added here. Thanx a ton
Im always hearing of Jireh Cycles selling cheap stuff. I haven't bought anything from them yet but where are their parts made? I don't like to see my bike down with kidney stones.
Most of the outfits sell the same parts made by the same companies, Jireh included. And most of the aftermarket parts are not US made, sorta like HD's own el-chrome-crap.
Try bills custom cycles you can find him on the net good prices and very fair shipping prices
I have been buying from them for a long time... He's on the net
