Default New Ignition Sensor Plate???

I have to replace my tappets/lifters (had a bearing go bad on one of them) and I've got the whole cam cover removed. Noticed that my bike has a stock Ignition Sensor Plate. I've heard that you should replace it if the scooter has over 50,000 miles on it........or if it is more than 5 years old. My bike is a 1991 and I imagine it is probably the original.

Should I replace it with a stock one?............or will upgrading give me any better performance?

Here's what I have:

1991 FXRS (25,000 miles)
Upgraded air cleaner
re-worked stock CV carb
stock exhaust (with baffles cut down a bit)
andrews cam
adjustable pushrods
screamin' eagle ignition module
screamin' eagle performance coil
8.5mm magnecor plug wires

If you have suggestions on upgrades...............let me know.

Thanks guys

if it looks good then put it back in. you could buy an after market high dollar one but you wouldnt notice a difference, except in your wallet.

Kinda what I was thinkin'. Anyone know how to tell when these things go bad? I've read that they go bad without noticeable symptoms sometimes.

The Book has specs on what the resistance should be. After that, it's usually thermal.
