Default Replacement ignition

have a 85 Evo that is giving me grief and pretty sure it is the ignition. If I were to replace the system what is the best way to go. I want to keep it simple and reasonable priced.

What sort of grief are you getting?

I have heard good things about twin tech.

Be certain to identify the actual source of your problems. On my 1990 it proved to be the sender unit inside the timing cone, the ignition module was fine.

I am sure it is the sensor plate inside the cone but if I am going to replace it i want to do it right. Not get a new plate that then needs another module because they dont suit.

For maybe $150 you can get an Ultima that has programmable switches and is PC programmable as well. Some people love them, others complain about some Chinese components. I have had one for 5 years with no problems.

Here is some info:

Are you using a HD module? Then get a HD sensor plate and don't worry about it.

I use one of these as well with no problems so far. (2 years) I went through 2 HI-4 units over about 6 years.

Had Crane Hi-4 that broke down at the module, replaced with OEM that broke down at the sensor plate. Now I run Dyna S single fire connected to the old Crane Hi-4 coil. Works good and it`s cheap and simple. It requires a mechanical advance unit. Have a look at their website. It might be the system You need.
