Default 91 heritage electrical ghosts HELPPPP!!!!

I went for a ride and after about a mile at a slow cruise the bike cut out on me. I turned off the start switch and back on and it continued running. My signals didnt work and it kept shutting off then back on again. After I coasted home I shut it off and with everyhing off I heard a clicking noise every 3 seconds. Found that the 30amp fuse next to the starter relay was ticking. I talked to the HD dealer and they suggested checking the ignition switch. It was old so I replaced it and that fixed my turn signal problem. I also replaced the fuse and the relay since they were original. But the fuse continues to click and the starter wont crank all the way. I need some help here people. Everyone I know is stumped. I cant afford to replace everything so please help a brother out.

sounds like a short (bad wire positive to ground) check the battery terminals The starter motor is releasing after you take your finger off the start button isn't it?

The starter button and starter work properly. I have to start chasing wires and hopefully find out where soon cuz I have alot of riding plans and need to get back on the road. What a way to spend a friday night. It all boils down to a short in a wire somewhere. Thanks for the imput.

Years ago on the same bike,When riding in heavy rain my bike would eat a module due to a short.Pull the left tank off and the whole bundle runs between it and the frame. They were crushed from the factory and the bare spots lined up with each other and when it got wet....You get the idea.I would look there. And recheck the wires giong to the switch on the dash. They could have vibrated some of the wires off the crimps so you may not be getting the full voltage needed(going open).toby

I took everything arpart and went over all the wiring on that bike and found a few real minor areas where the wire wore thru from rubbing. I fixed all the little problems and checked every possible area. Fired right up and runs good. Thanks for the feedback people. Thanks Toby cuz thats where I found most of the problems right behind the left tank. Found a couple on the right tank as well. They should of given a little extra space for the wiring without the tanks hitting. I'm gonna put some extra cushion there for the wiring. Thanks again people....

- hi.

- think that water also caused my bike to splutter (and then recover) the other day.

- must go easy with the hose the next time the bike is washed.
