Default oil pump bypass

i thought there was a screen of some type that you checked from time to time in the oil pump. i cant remember were it is. all i can find is where the oil pump bypass spring and valve is, is it under the valve.

Its not in the pump. While looking at the cam cover and pump(to the left of the cover). You'll see an acorn nut(plug) on top of the pump, then to the right, on the case, you'll see another acorn nut(again, plug). Remove that plug and you'll see the spring and screen inside. Its a little difficult to remove because of the contour of the case, but if you happened to read my post on lifter screen, they do make them aftermarket.
