Screamin eagle ignition module performance
I had a Dyna 2000 ignition module going out on me according to my mechanic. It would not always fire up and I would have to turn the switch off and then back on. It also made my coil extremely hot. A month ago I was coming back from Baton Rouge and the coil left a blister on my left thigh.Well we put a Screamin Eagle module with the 8000 rpm rev limiter on the bike and the difference was like night and day. It felt like I had the Crane 314 .600 lift cam back in the bike. It checked out at 80hp and 75lbtrq when I had it dynoed. last. It feels like I have anther 10-15hp. I'll have to get it dynoed again and post the numbers. I currently have a Crane 310 .550 lift cam with Wiseco 11.0 pistons and a port and polish job on the heads. I had a problem with the pinion shaft on the stock flywheels shearing off twice when I had the 314 cam in so I had a set of S&S stock 80" wheels put in and dropped the cam down to .550".So far so good.
I have one on my bike and have since about 1987 or so. You just plug it in, no other mods needed. You might need an extension cord, sold separately, for some models. I always got a kick out of the catalog description which said that if you're going to use the "off road use only" SE ignition module on your full dress FLHT, be sure to order HD part number xxxxx wiring harness extension.
