I need to replace my front 21 x 2.15 spoke wheel on my 98 FXDWG. I have looked at many custom wheels and found some that I like, but can't bring myself to pay $1000 to $1500 for one wheel. I will probably go back to the wire spoke like the stock, but was wondering if anyone had any sources for other wheels at a decent price.
I just put Ultima 80 spoke wheels on mine. Cant complain a bit, reasonible price and great looks. I have heard some bad things about spokes breaking and such, but I figure if I keep an eye on them and check them periodicly it will be hard to beat the savings. At least now, I'll have the rims to relace in the future..

That 80 spoke sure looks sweet. I had seen those on ebay for 159.95, but was afraid they would be chinese junk. I have always loved the looks of spokes.
What year is your bike? I know that the 2000 and newer takes a different wheel than mine.

Mine is a '94. So far so good, I'm told these are Chinese junk, but...... 5k mi and counting.. I'm pretty happy so far. Just couldnt swallow the $600ea option for the "good stuff"

Gotta admit that they sure look nice in the pic. I can't see spending the big bucks either. Stock HD wheels are around $400.
I see them at American Classic Motors, but have sure read some negative stuff about them on the forum. Do you remember who you bought them from?

I'm pretty sure its the same company I linked in my original post here. Got them off e-Bay. I started to mount them myself, then took them to my indi because the rear tire kicked my ****.. He then told me some stories, the worst of which was a few broken spokes. I had him mount and balance them, threw them on the bike and make it a point to pay attention for vibrations and run my fingers across them from time to time to listen for any ringing (loose spokes).. Like I said, I'm content with the quality. My main motivation was that I installed chrome lowers and new bars with new controls last winter. To look at the bike, it looked show quality, until you got down to my stock wheels, with what looked like galvanized spokes.. Had to do something.. Figured I could handle pissing $250 away on this gamble...
Your bike looks good. I went to your profile to see if you had a photo album, but there was none. Yours being a 94 the wheels are just like mine. I know what yo mean about the spokes on the stock wheel. I bought my bike 6 yrs ago and some of the spokes were rusted. I removed the wheel and used emory cloth on the spokes and painted them with Rustoleum silver. They looked sharp and still don't look too bad. Below is a pic. I also have chrome lowers and chrome controls on the handle bars. I jus tused the mini apes and installed 4 " risers to raise them and all my cables are braided.
Did you use your same spacers and did the wheel just mount right up without changing any thing?
