You should be able to, if you have an Autozone nearby they lend tools and should have a bearing puller that will work. You can use the old cam to install the bearing.
+1 on AutoZone for the Blind Hole Puller Set (#27128).
Another hint is to put the new bearing in the freezer overnight to shrink it. When you're ready to put 'er in, bring it right from the freezer to the bike.
Don't tell anyone, but the old cam will work as a bearing installer. You can rent a blind hole bearing/puller ste. Just be careful that you do not set the bearing in too deep.
I bought a lifter/tappet kit off ebay (Item number: 400036265932) and it includes all the gaskets and seals plus the high end cam bearing. It has new lifter blocks and the adjustable push rods plus tube seals. Got the kit for $289 and free shipping. Today i found out i lost the dam washer used for the breather gear and its not stuck to the cover as i already looked. Is that gear just a plastic washer that i could make and grind to depth ?
Do i have to replace the cam gear cone cover or the brass bushings ?
Also, i was thinking of using the old cam as i had no problem with it. The only problem was one of my wheeled lifters went bad.
HUGE THANKS for this forum and the folks who visit here.
Just go to the dealer and get the new washer. Put it down to not paying attention. Some things you don't want to mess around with making yourself, and cam/breather spacers fall into that category. Also, don't forget to check the endplay on the cam when you put it all back together. Oh, and you'll find the missing washer thingie as soon as you put everything back together.
If your cam looks good, that is, no wear marks on the lobes or bearing surfaces, I'd reuse it, unless you want a different one and have the bucks. The problem is that if one of the lifters went bad, they frequently take out the cam. I really have never heard of a lifter going bad in any vehicle and not wiping out the cam, but whatever. I dind't look at your vids.
I found my dam washer from the breather gear, it was in the oil container where i drained the oil when opening up the case. Been reading here on the forum and in my manual of the measuring of the cam and the breather so no problems there. My only worries now are going to be adjusting the push rods as im afraid im going to F$#k them up.
