Default FREIGHT TRAIN - Choo` Choo`

I need some more advice on the noise this engine of mine makes. I replaced full primary also lifters, tappet boxes, push rods .. This engine is as loud as my open pipes and it sounds like a FREIGHT TRAIN ( thus the title of this thred).
Has no knocks, pings, taps or rattles but it sounds like somebody dragging a car hood down the street behind a Harley Davidson. Here is a short video clip >

abearcarver,
I ain't hearing anything bad from your bike. But a YouTube video probably isn't the best venue for my deaf ears. Maybe you should take the bike to a shop and have them listen to it.
I hope that whatever your concern is, that it is not a "bad" sound.

Default big thanks

I’m going to try to get a better sounding video but its been colder than a well diggers *** here and I don’t like to start the bike in weather colder than 32* ..
The bike runs down the road like a monster and has power to spare.
It was 60* here the other day and I took it out for 20 minutes down the road and let it run a bit.. The oil temp was 100* and I thought that to be pretty good right ? I do notice that when it up to temp it idles just a tad fast for me. I have never dug into a carb on an evo but I might try to adjust something for that idle. The cable is slack and the carb idle screw might need a twist in ..
Anyway, the next warm day we have here in Upstate NY I will get another video of just the engine so you cant hear the exhaust but just the loud rushing sound the engine makes

abearcarver,
The oil was not fully up to temp at 100 degrees. I believe 180 to 220 or so is "normal" temp when fully warmed up. Since it is very cold where you live, it may take quite a bit of run time to heat up fully.
Ya got nothing to lose trying to adjust your idle speed. Just make sure it is fully warmed up and that you remember where you started from with the adjustment so you can go back to it if things go amiss.
I still feel that you'll get the most accurate feedback to the noise issue by having an experienced mechanic standing right there by the machine listening to it. Maybe someone else here can detect the aberrant sound if you do post another video. Good luck on that.

Your idle should be 900 to 1000 RPM when up to operating temp. To adjust your throttle cables adjust the pull cable so that you have full throttle opening. Then adjust all the slack out of the push cable. Twist the throttle and it should snap back closed when released, if not loosen the cable so it snaps back fully closed when you release the throttle.
