i have a 1984 FLHTC that was ordered without the radio new
i'm wondering if a fairing from a newer bike would work on mine
what i'ed have to change to get a 94 fairing i'm looking at on ebay
to fit looks like it has the same style speedo as mine
I just did basically the same thing to my 89 flhs. Just be warned that if that fairing does not have all the radio mounting hardware and brackets some are hard to find and discontinued, took me almost a year to find the missing parts from other dealers and ebay. I ordered some parts from the biketronis mounting kit and used a pioneer cd player. If you need part numbers for the brackets I can put together a list.
yep right miles, i have the right air box (canned ham) and all the right pipes. have the tour pac ,pass floor boards. and some other stuff for her in my house

Reason: added stuff
What would be much easier for you would be to add a tour glide fairing from the 80's or 90's, if you dont mind the dual headlight look. I converted my Electra glide to a Tour Glide fairing, and there was alot of wiring changes involved. Can be done, but alot of rewiring.
I dont think that there was an inner fairing until 86. There was no 'radio option back in 84.That was the first year Harley offered a stereo. The inner fairings for '88 to '96 like in your pic are hard to come by. I sold mine of ebay for a good price. Your gauges will fit that fairing, like I said I went the other way with the swap. There are some little parts that are different, like the odometer reset **** and such. There was a different fairing for '86 and '87, which is even harder to find.
I am pretty sure that the 88-96 style would fit on an 84. also the housings are different from the dash mounted gauges and the fairing mounted gauges, at least mine were.
I posted the question but in the touring section. I should have posted it here. We have a 85 FLHTC . She is wanting to up grade the fairing to a newer style ,gauges, radio etc.
It may be a challenge but I think we can do it. When we start it I will try to post pictures as we do it.
i was told by the man i got my bike off of that in 84 harley drilled through the batwing and put two studs there with medallions on the front to mount the radio and speakers and that he did not like the look so he ordered this bike without the radio , i have seen 84's on ebay with radios in them but cant find the fairings anywhere ,the wife dont want me to put one on the bike so i probly wont for now
