Default need help 94 evo just rebuilt upper and heads

Hey guys. New here and I have a question. I'm riding a 94 heritage and I just re ringed and honed my cylinders as well as had the heads refreshed. At the same time switched out my forks to chrome and did the head and wheel bearing, etc. etc.
I have about 250 miles on it since i finished and am experiencing a "noise" while downshifting almost like some of the chrome is vibrating on the front end coming from right in front of the left side gas tank up front. I checked all the obvious and zip tied, rubber banded, etc any thing that "could make a similar noise" It is when the bike is under "back pressure" from the down shift. When on the throttle just a bit, the noise is not there.
Any help would be great.
Looking forward to using and helping out on the forums!
Ben

Here is a possibility, when you are on the throttle the load is on the top of the primary chain. Whe you down shift or let off on the throttle and use the engine to slow the bike down, the load is on the bottom of the primary chain. The can cause a worn tensioner shoe to make noise. Try checking the adjustment or replacing the tensioner shoe. Hope this help

radpan63,

I assume when you said obvious you meant heat shields, the kick stand bumper, all the tin on the front covers around the headlight, the headlight ring and such. Can't think of anything else unless the carb cover, backing plate mounting bolts could be loose. keep looking, if it does you like it does me it will fall off sooner or later !!

later..........

Yeah, a chromey piece the least bit loose will drive ya nuts. I had a front heat shield break just one side of the upper mounting tab coming into Souix City last fall. Dropped off the ramp for fuel - sounded like a wrist pin bushing was totally gone. It don't take much...

Under decel is when all the slack is on the top side of the primary chain, so follow up on that suggestion too.

Default Thanks for the suggestions!

Hey Guys.
This forum really works, hey?
Thanks for all the interest in my situation. After working on the bike ALL winter and learning A LOT all the way through, the last thing I wanted to hear was noises from the motor. That would just mean i F'd something up. I checked my primary chain and it was just a bit on the loose side and after further review I "happened" to notice my left driving lamp was touching the chrome on the windshield. Between the two of these things I think it is gone!
No after getting stuck in a huge rain storm after a Friday fish fry (we have those in WI.) I'm off o clean my bike for a few hours.
Thanks again for your suggestions.
Ben
