Default timing

last question for now. is stock timing adequate for an 80 inch carbed with an andrews 27 cam, high flow filter and a set of true dual reihnharts on an flhtc, or can i advance it for better performance. still seems a little sluggish.

If you have it jetted right, it should not be sluggish. The Screaming Eagle ignition module will also help. I would not mess with changing the base timing to try to correct for other problems. I also personally don't like the aftermarket modules from a reliability standpoint.

I agree.

You can go as low as 30 BTC but should never go above 35 BTC. If the VOES is not working, it will feel sluggish. However even with a stock ignition it will fully advance to wherever it's set by about 2000 -2200 rpms.
