The HD shop manuals have pretty good instructions on how to lace and true wheels. For example, in my 1986 shop manual page 2-20 starts with how to do it, and it goes into a lot of detail on what to do and what not to do including truing. Way back when, my friend helped me with it, so I certainly don't claim expert knowledge on the process.

OK, so I was finally able to get the contact info I needed (thanks John!).. I've been contacted by several guys and they've decided to send me a replacement set of wheels. I've got to say, I was pretty turned off by what happened, but these guys are truely stand up folks. They stand behind their product and customer. I'm thoroughly impressed with the Midwest operation!! All of this transpired since I made the call Monday afternoon...

Yep, about 5" crack that you could see light through.. Glad to have tubes..
Even Harleys stock spoke rims aren't stainless steel.
I've already made the desiscion that I'd never do spokes again because I don't trust anyone that says there stainless, you never know
