The early clutch hubs were all aluminum and were later replaced with a steel hub with steel posts that I found to be a problem in the late 80s but since I’ve replaced the hub on my 1987 FLHTC in 1993 I’ve not experienced any problems since. I believe that I’m on hub #4, they went to a spline shaft someware around 1990 and I’ve not heard of to many problems since.
Well I ended up with the updated OEM hub being that the custom chrome one was back ordered until Sept.. I got it all back together today and had a nice test ride.
