Default Bagger exhaust

I am looking for a right side exhaust system that will work on my 89 FLT.
Prefer two separate pipes that will work with my solid bags.
I just can't get the right sound I am looking for with the dual setup.

Anybody?

I run the Basani 2:1, which I think you are saying is a set-up at least similar to yours but doesn't produce the right sound for you. I thought I had seen some that kept 2 pipes all the way back, but I always thought it would be a mess in any twisties - probably have to scrape being lower to the road. If you have the dual headpipes, then you might just head down to a muffler shop and have them cut you some pipes to clamp on. Shouldn't really be hard to fab and you could have them chromed or painted and just slip in a baffle the size you want.

There is not a lot of room under the r/h bag for two pipes, especially with mufflers. Are true duals off your list?!

You can fit the pipes off later models, which don't use the flared pips your bike and mine originally had, as long as you use later model mufflers. I have Samson pipes with S&S mufflers.

I have seen drag pipes for flt that go under the bag but have yet to see regular pipes like that, but I admit my knowledge is very limited. I once had some Big City City baffles that fit inside 1 /34 pipes but never actually used them. With something like that you can run a straight pipe and still have some needed backpressure.

Here is a picture from the Jireh online catalog, ad claims the rear pipe mounts under the bag in the stock location.

and here is the baffles:

on edit:
The Jireh numbers were 62-347 62-348 62-349

You know what would be cool - just dreaming here - would be have a muffler shop bend the front pipe to run just outside the back pipe where they come together and then run them side-by-side under the bag. Slash cut them, stick in a short baffle for some back pressure, and have them ceramic coated black maybe. You could run a simple L - bracket to the stock mount by the tranny and even weld it onto the pipe. That would be bad - shoot, I may try that some day.

Have you heard the V&H Big Shot Duals? They sound real nice. Sound like the long ones that go all the way back on the soft tails but come out both sides. The other option would be the Big Radius for the bagger but they don't list them for any older bikes. Don't see why they wouldn't work though?

I am using headers from an 2008 because I wanted to use an O2 sensor, and CVO (fullsac baffles) mufflers from a 2006 on my 1990 flhtcu. The only thing I had to modify was bracket at the transmission and I am guessing a bracket from a 1998 would have worked without modification - the 2008 brackets at the transmission are offset and lower. I don't know if you could fit an 2009 bagger exhaust because part of that system runs under the frame - but certainly anything up to 2008 should work. Prior to using the 2008 headers I had cut off the flange on my stock headers to allow me to slide the newer bagger pipes on my old headers.

HHHMMMMMMMMM. I have a buddy that has his own pipe bending machine at his house and winter is coming SOOOo if I keep him supplied with beer maybe we can play around and come up with something.
The only problem I see is what to do to address the end that goes into the head to accept the flange.
Thanks to every one else that has replied and keep em comin
Joe

i have a 84 flhtc put Samson true duals and strait pips with fish tails only thing i had to change was how they hung under the bags got two p clamps and cut them to size works like a charm maybe you could use two p clamps under the same bag to keep your up so they don't drag
