Battery Drain Teaser
Ozzie can I hijack your thread???
I got an '86 FLTHC (repainted) also, don't the # of how many made, do to it being a Shriner (firemans) make on title. All stock except for a stage 1, even got the keihen butterfly carb which I fixed so it won't spit, backfire, or idle funny!
But what's this DREADED click???? I've owned this bike since 2003 and had replace the battery (good ol' acid, HEY they had them from day one). Never had that click problem. Could anyone point me to a thread for this problem?
I know my volt guage is off by 1v low, and my clock won't work anymore. From your post sounds like you know electronics (limited as they are on these bikes) on the '86s. But anyone who has this info can chime in! Want to know before it happens, just like a post many months ago about the trans/clutch finger lever breaking which I fixed on the side of the road. Many thanks to that member, it was an easy fix when you have that part in bag.
Thx all.
>caused by about a dozen electrical connections between the battery and the starter solenoid coil, including cheesy push connectors, switches, breakers, ring terminals, a relay, etc
Get the push button solenoid cover for the cheap and easy fix. Although, with my extra start relay wired in, I have not had one since, so I'm calling mine cured.
