A friend has just called and asked it I can help him with his bike. I don't know they year but it an FXR. He said it feels excess motor vibration. I am yet to see it but the first thing I think is motor mounts. I know nothing about FXR's so need some ideas of what to check out here. Please let me know if you have had a similar problem. thanks.
Check out the front motor mount...
If oil drains out on to the front mount, over time,
the oil can deteriorate the rubber in the mount, causing failure.
Care needs to be taken when the oil filter is removed or the oil just drains out right on the mount.
I use a drain tray similar to this, and it works well...
Being a rubber mounted system, several items come into play. The front motor mount as mentioned is the number one culprit. Other things to consider and check are the two stabilizers and the swingarm cleveblocks and rubbers.
