That with all the newer bike owners, its all about the money they spend on bikes and do dads, and blah blah this, and cam chain tensioner that. and it seems that evo owners are more passionate about their bikes? im prolly a lil biased cuz i love my evo and cant afford half their doo dads.

I just want to ride. I don't spend my time looking at my bike. (Or washing it.) I don't need doodads that don't make it a better ride. I'll stick with the EVO for now. And people aren't going to see or care about farkles on my bike as it passes them on the road while they are parked.

The pride used to come from having the oldest bike in the crowd not the newest . The world changed. I hear they don't use biplanes very much anymore either....

I notice that alot on this site. Seems to be a lot of new iron with computers, fuel injection and a lot of other stuff I dont think I want on my bike!
Mine is 21 years old & I can wrench on it pretty easly. I would love to get another old shovel like my last bike which I sold when times turned to crap. a 67 Sporty, it had class too!
Hatch.

My buddy just bought his first bike (06 Deluxe), I went with him to pick it up and drive it home for him...I would have to say I absolutely was not impressed. There was no soul to the bike, it just didnt feel like my EVO. By the time we got to his house I was so ready to jump back on my bike and just feel her under me...I was quite disappointed, but happy at the same time

I'm a bit of a techno junky but I love my evo.

12 years of tinkering on it to make it the way I think it should be and I love it!

I've considered a new one but it would take a lot of work to make it as comfortable as the one I own.

I'm all about the ride but I do like it to look nice!

As long as it gives me a grin when I crank the throttle, there isn't much reason to replace it!

It doesn't end with the bling for the new bike. When it's about two years old, and they have spent $3-$4k on it, got it just the way they want it, they turn around and trade it in on this year's model and start all over again. I never have understood why guys trade bikes so often.

I'm really of the same mindset...
I don't need the doo-dads, and they usually do nothing to help the performance or ride quailty.

Fact is, the Evo motor is simple, yet brilliant.

I understand that research and development tries to make things bigger and better...just not sure that they accomplished anything with the TC, except for.....(fill in the blank....)

When a topic is "Who made this custom GPS holder?" and "what make of GPS do you have?" I appreciate my older bike more everyday.

I ride with older Shovel codgers who think a windshield is modern, they honor performance, paint and simple things in life (beer and less than nice bars) I have seen their ways and tend to enjoy staying basic. If I showed up with an electronic path finder, I would be the main topic (joke) of the allday ride.

Many on here say Evo's have soul, I feel the same and consider it a part of my family. I study and appreciate the new factory bikes but only to see if modern technology can be used towards my old bike.
