S&S .520,real nice torque cam.its a bitch, most low rpm/torque cams are for stock compresion.redshift had made a cam a while ago we used alot,i think it was a .653,but its been a while since they made it
There is a 7 and 72.. The numbers are nearly identical. The 600 is a bit bigger, but shorter durations. Back to that bigger istn always better thing, I guess.
look at that, you learn something every day, i guess that must a be a older grind, because none of my catalogs show that 7, internet shows its for stroker motors..hmmm, Well on the contrary, bigger is better when you do it correctly, When you have enough head, compression, gear and bike weight figured in, all that has to support a camshaft, One things ive noticed with harley guys, they like to throw gigantic duration, high overlap cams in with next to no compression, thats a bad thing, ive personally done it with a small block chevy in a 4x4, and it was turd,

Yea, that why I've had so many questions... My bike runs great now. But, if I could get a larger cam that matches the CR and heads better, I just may do it..

Yea, i hear ya, I just looked at your other thread, The limiting factor on your build is the compression, 9.5 to 1 is a good middle of the road compression, but if you going to do a longer duration camshaft, youll need to bump that up with another piston or having the heads decked, or both...lol.
I was referring to the Andrews EV7. I just found the paper work with the specs on my EV7. TimingDurationLiftvalve lift

Yea, well, as for now my thoughts are to leave the top end alone.. Did that last spring, though the pistons have been in there for 10yrs.. I thought of milling the heads while in there, but fitting my criteria and driving style, I liked the idea of not worrying about spark knock.. This ethanol crap and unreliable fuel sources, just turned me off...
What are you noticing on detonation with the high comp? Is it bad or can it be easily dealt with, with pump fuel?
