My mileage DROPPED when going to the EV27! Even when I take it easy on the freeway it has dropped considerably.
The power, however,is a completely different story! She runs much better with the Andrews cam!

I agree with Brettfullthrottle:

I had no problems with the stock clutch using the ev27, 10:1 pistons, head work etc. etc.

However, if you are concerned, I have had good luck with the Energy One products . The BT-11 kit without the heavier spring is $93.95 and stronger than stock.

I am currently using the BTX-11 1990-97 Big-Twin & 1991 to Present Sportster (XL) - Extra Plate Kit w/spring that retails for $106.00 with my 113" engine. The heavier spring makes it a little harder to pull the clutch.

Saturday was our first ride of the year, it was nice to get out again. There was a little more salt, water and gravel on the roads we ride on than I like but overall a great way to spend a few hours on a sunny afternoon with temperatures in the 50's.

You should be in the mid 40's to 50 with that setup. Sounds like you are running rich, this could "wash" the rings. Check your plugs. What's been done to the Carb??? What do you have for gearing ??

If you retained your stock cv but rejetted it correctly, your mileage should have went up, thats been my experience.

I'm getting 45-50mpg with the bigger SE 11 cam, 9.5:1 pistons and headwork.. I'd check your plugs real closely, I agree that it sounds like your running too rich..

I have a similar set-up with efi and average 40+ on the highway.

I could probably do better but can't seem to stay out of the gas!

With my dresser,2up highway riding i get low 40's.In town low to mid 30's.At its a 10.5:1with an ev 51 with s/s super e carb.Id have to agree with the majority on this and say, check youre jets and plugs, maybe even see about having it tuned.Carb tuning is usally affordable,I only charge about 100.00 for tuning a carb bike....By the way im making mid 80's hp and tq,still running stock clutch.

I have stock gearing. I have had this dyno tuned.....not sure what is going on. She burns oil however....about a quart every 1200 miles. Could this be part of the problem?
On the freeway I tend to keep her at 75 to 80. guess that's not really "taking it easy".Maybe the problem is my wrist!

I'm never below 80 on the highway and thats probably 75% of my riding... I'd be concerned if I got less than 45mpg, but again, we dont have the same exact setup.. Sounds like your engine may be tired, but I'm not the pro that some of these other guys are..
