Default help w/speedometer cable/drive unit

Hi all I need some help. I'm in the process of putting a bat wing fairing on my '90 FLHS. I need to change the speedometer cable. I don't know how to disconnect the speedo cable from the speedo drive unit so that I can remove the cable from the front fender. I have looked in the service manual and the parts book and haven't found a discripition.

Thanks,
Roach

If I remember correctly, it just screws on.

Disconnect from the speedo then it will unscrew from the drive, it will be obvious once you start.

Man! That B***H was tight. The end is splined rather than threaded. Does that mean that it should push together rather than screw? There is a very small set screw that I removed before attempting the removal.
