Putting a CV carb on my 86 softail, any ideas on what to use for a carb support plate. JP has one that fits all 90-91 EVO w/ Cv carb, looks like it will fit, but then to go with a high flow AC, I cant find anything for the air cleaner and mounting plate in those years. Any suggestions ??

I would think something like that would suffice for what your doing,

 

this bracket will work, you'll have to use some bigger washers for the bolts on the head. they are smaller on the older evos. non head breathers. i just did this conversion on a 1988 fxstc. you won't be disappointed.

 

Ya it looks like the plate will work, found some on e-bay and in JP catalog, looks like the air cleaner itself will be a little more difficult, anyone know if all CV carbs will accept the same air cleaner regardless of its year

 

not sure what intake you're using, but i had to get a rubber adapter because i kept my old intake on. if you get the bracket alone make sure you get the one for the cv carb. the older style carbs have the air holes in front on the opposite side. i used a factory carb mount but had to cut it down for my 7" cover. i went with a k+n filter that was 6 1/4" on the bottom. the dealer i go to was really helpful there.
