Have you thought about your same idea with a speedometer cable soldered to the screw? That would allow for a near 90 degree bend and make it really handy...
That is an excellent idea! I'll have to give that a try. In fact, I think I'll try that on the idle speed adjusting screw too. The thing I liked about the Mikuni carb that I had on it before was that it had this dongle thing that you could easily adjust the idle speed. I would use the enrichener to start it and then jack up the idle speed with the adjuster and close the enrichener so that it wasn't pouring all that raw fuel into the engine. Once the engine got warmed up I would back the idle speed down.
With the stock CV carb that I put on it that is not possible. But, if I could put a flexible extension on the idle speed adjuster I could have it come out above the air cleaner and rig up a little clip to hold it in position. Then I could adjust the idle speed without getting out of the saddle.
