My ignition switch is wired so that the first click to the right alows the engine to start but no lights are on, the second click to the right turns on the lights and you can also crank the engine. It's sort of like your 4 wheeler, you don't start that with all your lights on. Works like a charm for me, all those lights draw down the current. My starter will click once in awhile with the lights on but never when they are off.
D
Can you go into detail about how you wired this? I've heard of this before, but I am not electrically inclined and need simple detailed instructions.
Thanks
I'm not good enough nor do I remember enough to give you detailed instructions, sorry. I tried to do it by the diagrams in the book but I ended up figuring it out with a little quality time and a digital meter. I had to jump one set of contacts, actually just move one end of a jumper that was already there and moved one wire-(the light circuit). My ignition switch has 6-7 screw terminals that make it easy, after 95 they went with plugs and you would have to splice things, and I think they eliminated one of the positions(clicks)..Wish I could be of more help..
My 87s switch is like that. Lock, Off, Ignition, Lights, Acc. This was before they decided that your light should be on all the time. Mine had a jumper across the circuit breakers so the headlight was on all the time. The Mechanic who prepped it asked me if I wanted him to cut the wire to make the Headlight work with the switch. I don't know what year they eliminated the ignition and went with the lights only selection. I hadn't really thought about newer bikes having to start with all the lights on. That can't help.
Hey guys ... I'm not sure what you mean by " pushing the button on the solonoid " Is this a button that is installed onto the part. I'm confused. Thanks

I would put one on if I could. They don't make one for my style solenoid. 91 and up. Remeber to lock your bike. It will start without the key if someone pushes the button. Natilus,do they still give you the free shipping? Just wondering.
yea, if it says free shipping it has free shipping lol
I just ordered it yesterday and the bill was charged for the amount it says there, no shipping cost added.
BTW I was reading and no, the bike won't start by pushing the button... the starter will crank but there will be no spark unless the ignition is on
Greetings,
Bought and installed the black version from the same company.
Works great and unless battery is completely down, don't even worry about having to bump start.
I was getting intermittent clicky-clicky from time to time but just hit button second time and it came to life but still, sometime, somewhere, always had the feeling it wasn't gonna start!
