Up front, sorry I could not find a definative answer with the search. What I did find is that Johnson makes lifters for several brands, including Ultima. Theirs are much less money that Jims. Reliable product?
i will tell you, im not a fan of ultima lifters, i purchased a set and the quality was a bit to be desired, vthunder for 140 bux, has a massive axle, and very nice fit, seemed like the rite price for me.
I've been running the Ultima's for about 6 months with no probs. Here's a pic of the Ultima (top) and Johnson Big Axles. Look pretty much the same to me.
V-Thunders with no problem, but they will be replaced soon during a cam swap with S&S. Why?, upon good authority from an ex S&S rep they have a better race and roller setutp. With an average engine the V-Thunders or HD "B's should be just fine. With my high lift cam I just chose to buy the "better lifter".
Johnson has come out with a newer forged lifter that is supposed to be a trick ticket. Lowriderglen would have the latest info on that setup.
