Thumbs up O.K. Paul ~ that's sound like a plan

Hey Paul

Wait a minute !!! Just got flash and not a hot one either.

Paul when you said,"...each side has two, one on the top and one underneath."

Dumbo me, thinking that it's ONLY ONE RIVET goin' thru making it just two rivets. NO SCHOONER

So you're cleared the cement from my 69yr.ol' head.
GOTCHA my good man.

So I take it that once I grind-off the head of the rivet underneath it will clear the way for my to drill all the way through !

They are rivets, and has been previously mentioned each side has 2, one on the top and one underneath.

You must grind off the heads of both pairs, then drill completely through both (top to bottom) to remove the body of the rivet.

Hope this helps.

Paul

Schooner,

Like t150vej and Hogjob I have had my fender out and didn't need to touch those rivets. Do you have a workshop manual? They hold the chrome luggage carrier not the fender! They are also a bitch to remove.

Exclamation Hey Hogjob ~ Took Some Pics This Morning

Hi Guy

Look @ the bike this morning before we leave from a weekend in California (Ford Car Show)

I suddenly seen the following:

I CAN'T TAKE THAT AXLE BOLT OUT BEFORE I TAKE OUT THE MUFFLER AND BOTH SIDES. THE AXLE BOLT WON'T CLEAR THE MUFFER
Correct me guy if I'm right or WRONG

Besides what's that LITTLE NUT on the extreme left in
the picture I just posted

I don't want to make a move on this removal of this darn rear fender till I get it COMPLETELY in my THICK
HEAD ~ PATIENCE with boys

schooner that nut your asking about is the wheel alignment as well as your belt tensioner adjustment theres one on each side of the frame. Please get a service manual.you are gonna need this manual if your gonna work on and service your bike, not much about that motorcycle the manual dont cover.nothing else you will understand the machine better.
