Default Some sludge on valves...

I removed my old carb manifold so I can put the manifold for the CV carb on the bike....when I peek into the port I see some sludge buildup on top of the valves...is this insignificant or should I try cleaning it out? I attached a pic but it is a little blurry. Is it safe to spray a degreaser or something in there? Any suggestions?

From the picture it doesn't look to bad. As long as the seat area on the valve and the seat look clean, it should be OK I would think. Can't tell from the picture, is it soft carbon, or something else?

Buy a can of sea foam & pour a quarter can in your fuel. do that 4 times until the can is empty & you have ran 4 full tanks through your bike. Everything should be clean & happy!

Hey Jim, It looks pretty soft....it probably isn't a big deal but I figured since I have some access right now maybe there is something I can do to safely clean it out.

Hatchetman...your idea is good and I have used seafoam once awhile ago...but just wondering if there is something to do now while it is opened up...if not, I'll probably try your suggestion later once it is all back together.

Ditto the Sea Foam. Good stuff. I use it in all my vehicles.
