92 flhtc electrical problem
about 1 year ago i started to get a miss once in awhile.the tach started to jump and now runs about 6 or 7 hundred below where it should be at 60 to 70 mph.today it started to miss that everything went dead. wait 5 seconds and it starts and runs for 1 to 2 min.and quits. did this for 30 miles and everything went dead.know it starts .any ideaswhere to start looking for the short. thanks pt

Your battery is kaput. Likely the regulator has had it. Possibly took the stator out with it.
Okay, if none of that happened, check the connection where the regulator plugs into the stator. This is a bad design, which leads to a bad connection. Which leads to intermittent charging and early battery death.

after checking every wire and connection i could find i replaced the 30 amp fuse at the battery wihch i had replaced 3 years agobut had been kicking out when the cig lighter would stick iwent for a 120 ft. ride .i then put a new coil in.today i went for a 100 mile ride in 95 degree weather and it ran perfect.so i think i got it solved. thanks paul
