Looking at doing the top end on the wide glide and wondering about increasing the compression. I already have the EV27 in her. Should I do the heads? What kind of power could I get from her with this cam and increased compression/head work? I am also looking at reliability. Any feedback would be appreciated...
EV-27 has too little duration and too early/closely spaced valve timing events for high static compression IMO, if you were to do a calculated dynamic compression calculation with high static compression and that cam I think you'd end up in the danger zone for dynamic compression ratio. This is why its such a good cam for stock motors, you'll want a bigger cam to work well with high static compression and keep detonation/preignition at bay on pump gas.
Head work as in port/polish by all means will make a difference in any case but if you want to keep that cam I personally wouldn't do much in the way of bumping up your compression up

youd be better off going with a different cam,for a good, milder build a AND. 46 will take more compresion & headwork very well
Exactly what he said. I run an Andrews EV-51 with high compression and headwork with great results but you might not wanna go quite that aggressive, depends on your riding style.
