There are two things to consider here. While your rear is uncomfortable, what is the suspension like? The seat may not be the main problem.
Let me tell you a story! Last year my wife and I did a tour of 2,500 miles in two weeks. Halfway through the second week she had had enough she was so uncomfortable. This year I fitted custom-built Ohlins shocks and we did a similar trip (in May), on the same Corbin seat. She had no problems and declared the shocks an unqualified success!
So coming back to your problem, seriously consider fitting superior shocks to improve your ride. Start from the ground up. Contact HDF sponsor Motorcycle Metal for advice and a great personal service.
Its all personal preferance.. Some guys can ride a hardtail all day and not complain... Grahm has a point on the suspension. But, I'll tell you, my first Dyna had a stock seat that got old after 100mi.. This one had a Corbin touring seat that starts to wera my *** after 250 or so (they are hard by nature and rely on you being the one to break it in).. My wife's sporty had a stock seat that neither one of us could ride more than 10mi on w/o complaining. I put the Mustang on it and she has no problem going 200+ on it.. My next seat will likey be a Mustang, but I'm not fond of the choices for my '94 Wide Glide..
the suspension is stock 97 with 14k on bike . the plan is to look into new shocks soon but have to watch finances . thought seat might be cure . a buddy bought new shocks (no name) for his and that was a waste money, wound up buying progressive and is real happy with them so far . will look into shocks . my brother has a corbin on his sporty and complains of it being hard also , not putting corbin down just think its not the seat for me . thinkin saddlemen explorer, but never met anyone that has one or used it , had a one (not explorer, but saddlemen seat) on my panhead and it was comfortable no rides over 150 miles tho.

That's a nice way of putting things! Corbins are cleverly shaped and the point I was making is that good quality shocks under them will improve comfort substantially. On our recent trip to Poland we hit potholes, cobbles, unguarded rail crossings, you name it. We braced ourselves many times for the impact, which never came and praised Ohlins and Howard out loud!
A pair of Howard's Ohlins will wake your WG up and make it much more comfortable.

I'll have to look into them.. I've got HD's version of Fox shocks on there now and didnt think the overall ride was bad, but, that certainly might help..

Howard is just a short ride away from you. You could call by.....
I don't know about the other brands because I haven't used them. I can say that my Mustang is no problem for me at all on the FXDWG. I have done many long mile days and my a$$ (what little I have) is never sore.
