I only wear a full face helmet. Right now I've got an HJC and like it. I've been wearing full face helmets for years.

When I do use a helmet, it's an HJC FG-2 half helmet. I just looked on the net and it looks like they quit making it. THe closest HJC to it, is an IS-2.

I bought the Advanced Carbon Classics helmet - it is supposedly the lightest and smallest DOT helmet. I love it. It is small and light and doesn't give you the bubble look of the normal 1/2 helmet. The foam padding is a bit scratchy but I just wear a bandana under it. The helmet runs $185 I think, but I am happy I paid it. I've heard they have had some problems holding their DOT approval, and I had to send it back once for some sort of coating. Other than that, it is great.

I also have a ACC helmet; I love it. They are now out of business. The helmet has failed independent DOT tests.

I do the same with my ACC helmet. It is small and light enough that I'm perfectly willing to wear it all the time (after many, many years of no helmet at all). The fact that they lost their DOT certification and went out of business bothers me a little, but not enough to start wearing a different helmet.

Amen! I'm up in the air about the whole helmet thing anyway, but with children still in the house it seems the right thing to do. With the ACC I figure I am getting pretty good protection for anything other than a disaster accident. If that is the case, I am perfectly willing to leave my fate in God's hands.

Got a daughter that recently went up there I am wanting to see again anyway.

Safe riding to everyone, regardless of the helmet or lack of one you chose to wear.

Bernie,

Hi from the UK!

I previously had the earlier model, I think they just called it Concept, hence C2 and C3. I like them enough to own two! Helmets are so personal I can only recommend trying one to see if they fit you well. I like the flip-up, also the visors are very tough and survive regular use in all weathers, plus they come with an inner sun visor. I don't look through it personally, but do use it to shield my eyes on bright or sunny days. It's difficult to think of anything else it can do!

My wife has an original Concept (she doesn't ride as much as I do) and I will encourage her to get a C3 when the time comes to change her helmet.

I sport a Bell Drifter. It has button on ear flaps and a thing that velcrows on at the back of the head to help alittle with the flip up you are talking about.

I have to admitt that i rode my bike many times without helmet in the past and my best helmet was a cheap one because i wanted to have a good looking without paying attention to the safety. Well, 2 years ago my bro when riding his bike got hit by a truck and almost died. He was in coma for 31 days due of TBI, diffuse axonal injuries and subarachnoid hemorrage. The helmet saved his life. Id say a good and costy fullface helmet is a must.
Anyway for those who dont care about safety i would suggest DMD openface helmets.
