Help with jetting
I have a '92 FLSTC and would like to pick some brains about jet sizes for my carb. I have about 5k miles on a top end rebuild, .010 over stock pistons, stock compression, new valves, stock, EVL 3030 cam, S&S Super E and a hypercharger, and Vance & Hines exhaust. I just went through the carb and it currently has a 295 intermediate jet and a 72 main jet. Before the rebuild I was averaging about 45mpg, but after it dropped to about 38. On easy acceleration it runs fine, but pops and stumbles under heavy acceleration. I am hoping someone has some advice to get things back to running top notch. Thanks for your help.
Sounds like you main is too big, but I would buy both a 28 and a 68. I would start with just the 68 and ride it. Only if I still had issues would I pull the .295 out to put the 28 in. I would also double and triple check for a vaccuum leak with starting fluid or WD40 because no matter what, those jets don't sound too far off.

Did you turn down the accelerator pump adjuster ? Turn it all the way closed CW now turn it CCW 1 1/2 turns open Try it and get use to rolling the throttle That adjuster screw is to the right of the top of the carb as you look at it
Thanks for the advice. I am swapping out the jets today for the 28/68 and will adjust the acc pump as well. I am also installing an Ultima single fire ignition to correct any advance issues with the vacuum switch.
