Well I didn't take the carb out I did it with on the bike, it was pretty tedious to do that but didn't wanna deal with throttle cables and all that, just unscrewed the bowl got the pin out and dropped the float and the needle, was tricky putting that needle back upside down but I managed, in my last rebuild the float was adjusted well I made a piece of wood at 15 degree angle and did all that , so it should still be fine, it runs fine now if it gives me problems I'll take back out and do the whole rebuilt again.

Sounds like you have it resolved. Did you replace the float needle or clean it?

If the leak returns, another thing to check is where the rubber tip of the needle "seats". That seat can get gunk built up on it and a new needle will still leak because it can't fully seat. Usually a q-tip will clean that seat. If needed a little automotive polishing compound on a q tip makes it nice and smooth. Just clean up the residual polishing compound with carb cleaner.

I replaced it , my problem was different it was not leaking (see post above) the rubber tip was separated from the body so it was getting stuck closed when parked over night , and on cold start the bike would run until the bowl was empty and stops some tapping would sometimes work or waiting a whole day, it was a PITA. I had the old original harley one which I kept after a rebuilt (kit bought from CV performance, big mistake) so I put that back in there time tell, if it gives me problems again I'll bite the bullet and do another rebuild. click on the video below

Just as a preventive maintenance thing you might want to think about replacing your fuel line.
Ethanol ate mine up from the inside, debris got into the float bowl and stopped my float from closing.
That was before I started shutting the petcock after every ride.
