Wide Glide + 60MPH + Collie = Poor Puppy!
Yeah, been reading about hitting stuff and fear Feral Hogs most of all but....
Going to work this morning at 5am, cruising about 60 when a collie darted out from the right side of the road.
Front wheel hit it's neck and back wheel rolled directly over it.
Didn't go down but have a pucker mark in my seat.....
Went on to work and had to wait for daylight to check the scooter.
Pair of small bulges in the front fender right in front of the mount and some hair on a couple of bolts and cotter pins but other than that and the pucker factor it's all good!
Be careful out there, it's not only all the cages and people but the animals are aiming for us too!!
On the way home yesterday, I passed by the same spot but didn't see anything so hopefully it is OK.
After I got home, I put the bike up on the jack and inspected it pretty well.
The only casualty is the front fender - the paint isn't cracked or chipped and if I am careful, I think I can press it back into shape.
I may just leave it alone as you have to look closely to see the bulges and it clears everything with no problems.
It looks like somebody pressed down on the front of the fender and bulged it out on each side right in front of the mounting bracket.
Hopefully, that's my "accident" for the next few years!
Around here (west Michigan) it's deer we have to be watching out for. Several years ago I hit a very small fawn with my 57 pan. It was so small that its body was not above the front wheel so it did not do any damage to the bike. Twice I have had adult deer jump out and cross the road right in front of me - that really gets the heart pumping.
