Thanks Jim! Yea i shopped around just a little more and found that motor! Getting the bike there tonight after work and, Frank says he will have that baby going by Friday!! Plus he will see my old motor and tell me what he thinks about fixing the cases on mine.. Gota think about that custom chopper i may build one day! lol
Well done! You've fallen on your feet with that one. Post pics when all is done.
IMO...like the others above... you have made the correct decision. You still have your stock motor with the correct serial number that you can deal with it as you get time and coin.
Sounds like an AWESOME deal to me!! Keep us informed on how it all works out. I'm kind of in the same shoes you are, my cases are not bad, but have not found a replacement motor yet.
Well i saw the motor last night. It actually had 29,000 miles on it. But had the cam bearing replaced bigger cam (i guess I take their word for it) and they said it ran strong. they siad the guy bought a 110 in (i think) Ultima motor, but is motor was strong. It looked in great shape. Also my bike has a lowering kit, and it was slammed so low i dont think i could ride it on a rough road! So they are raising it for me, i could myself, but hell, while the motor is off... So they said it will be done by tomorrow, we will see! I have some pics, but havent quick figured out how to post on here.. And i work on a computer all day!
So my motor is on! Rode about 4 hours last night. Seems strong and all good! It does have adjustable push rods, cam, and air breather kit.. Now my old motor is sitting on an extra desk in my office, so i can tinker with it!
So guys, i just talked to my local shop!! THey have a motor off a 95 road king. 22,000 on it, mild cam (says the inner cam bearing has been changed) and an air breather kit on it. He says 1,700 for that motor, and for a hundred bucks he will put it on for me! I buy the oil and maybe a few clamps... Have me running by the weekend! So thats the way im going, dont have to drive two hours for the other motor, and dont have to bolt it on myself. Which is prolly a VERY good thing! lol Thanks to you all that responded, and im more than happy to keep talking Harleys! I will post some pics on here also if anyone is interested
