Default diegrinder time

hi all
just fitting a new cam in my 85 lowrider and the cam lobes are hitting the crankcasehas anyone had this problem as well and is it time to go mad with the diegrinder:icon_b lah:

some 85's were built without valve reliefs on top of the pistons. you might want to make sure what the pistons look like if you're putting in a big cam.

i have new se pistons which have valve relives in them will double check before starting though

Did you shim the cam? I' would hold off with the grinder until your sure of how much if any needs to be taken off. You don't want to weaken the case by mistake. And you'll have to check piston to valve clearance. Don't want to bend a valve or put a hole in the piston. Take your time.,,

i thought about shiming it out but it put the gears about 1/8 out of alinment as for the rest fingers crossed and a lot of measuring

Yeah, they do that. When I put the cam in my bike, it came with specific instructions to take a die grinder to that little bit of case. Apparently, the later cases were already relieved.

them 85's are rare. hd's total production in 1985 was less than 35,000 bikes. that's all models, production, out the door.
