Default Lifter Bleed Down

So today I was in my push rod tubes and decided to spin the rod, just because, and it did not turn, only with a wrench I could spin it. Thought this was odd as my bike has not been started in three weeks. Front exhaust, the other three all spun by fingers.
Yes they are all adjustable and equal flats when adjusted last. What y'all think about that one not bleeding down ?

Are you sure the lifter is on the base circle of the cam (valve is closed)? No matter where the cam is rotated, at least one valve will likely be open, at least partway. the fact that you can spin the other three pushrods says this is probably the case.

Remember, there isn't much travel in a lifter. If you're "parked" on a cam lobe, even if the lifter is fully "collapsed" the valve will still be held open by the cam.

I'm sure it is parked on a lobe, but for some reason I was thinking it would spin easily after sitting for so long. Guess I forgot about the fact that the spring pressure is still on it and the valve is still opened and only bled to that point. I think I was having a brain fart.

That's the reason I inject some Marvel Mystery Oil into my cylinders before winter storage. To coat the cylinder walls to prevent any rust in case a valve is held open.

What Uncle G said

If it's really bugging you do the test mentioned with each cyl at top dead center on a compression stroke.

I'll bet your just fine

For what it's worth, there is never a crankshaft position where none of the pushrods are not under some kind of spring pressure.

that's a great idea! I'm assuming you squirt it through the spark plug holes? Would it be worthwhile to get some on the rocker assemblies too?

I never like to put Marvel Mystery oil anywhere near where it might find its way into the engine or trans oil. It's a penetrant and loves to seep into gaskets and every other nook and cranny to cause leaks in base gaskets, head gaskets "O" rings and seals.
