The rear brake in my '96 was hanging up just a little bit when I first got it. I installed new pads, sucked out all the brown and grungy fluid from of the reservoir and bled an entire bottle of new brake fluid threw the system. Finally the new fluid started to come out the rear caliper crystal clear. That solved the problem for me.

In addition to bikerlaw's advice, clean the caliper where the pads fit and make sure they are not hanging up and dragging. If need be clean the exposed parts of the piston, so it retracts fully. Above all else, change the fluid!

Yep flush the fluid and ensure that the bracket/caliper is free to float back and forth, so that it centers on the rotor. Hope this helps.
